Speaking of SD cards: Android changed permissions models a bit so applications that used to work fine installed on SD cards don't tend to anymore.

With a 10.5" tablet expect a "full page" view to be a little smaller than the pocket editions. Seeing the beautiful art and text and entire page at once if you can is pretty nice. I do recommend getting tablets with larger screens here. For entry-level tablets, Costco usually has good packages for members including covers that aren't usually included for less than buying them separately. You might be able to find the A7 for cheaper and it's basically the same, but you'll get fewer future years of software updates.

Something like the Galaxy Tab A8 is probably what I'd *actually* recommend for just reading PDFs it's a 10.5 inch display and looks like it starts around $229, but with only 32 GB of storage you will definitely want to get a microSD card to hold the PDFs. I used to use a Lenovo tablet before, and they still make some that are competitively priced. You'll should be fine with other/cheaper tablets, too, but stick to the big vendors. The Tab S8 and Tab S8+ work fine (I had a Tab S7+ before) I'm currently using the extremely expensive Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, but you don't need to.

The 3/2 screen ratio I think newer iPads use would be nice on a tablet primarily used as a PDF reader. I'm sure someone else can give advice if you'd rather get an iPad. I use Android tablets, which everyone says are terrible (because Android apps aren't really customized much for the larger screen size) but actually work just fine. I also overdo this, at least on the hardware side.
