This was the month where the pilgrims would return to their land and adjust to life as it was.

The enormity of this statement is then linked to Humanity and the forbiddance of oppression, which signifies the sacredness of these months and religion. In this verse, one can see that the mention of ‘twelve months’ is coupled with the creation of the heavens and earth, which display Allah’s creation of the universe and with it, ordained the laws of time. And know that Allah is with those mindful (of Him).” And together fight the polytheists as they fight against you together. So do not wrong one another during these months. “Indeed, the number of months ordained by Allah is twelve-in Allah’s Record since the day He created the heavens and the earth-of which four are sacred. They also reported a fabricated Hadeeth that is falsely attributed to the Prophet which says, `Whoever is generous to his family on the day of Aashooraa, Allaah will be generous to him for the rest of the year.’ Reporting all of this from the Prophet is tantamount to forging lies against him.The Quran is unrivalled in its literature and within the thousands of verses revealed, there is one that describes the months of the (Hijri) year in a way sacrosanct only to the words of Allah s.w.t.

No Hadeeth of this nature was known during the best centuries, but some of the later narrators reported Hadeeths like: `Whoever puts kohl in his eyes on the day of ‘Aashooraa’ will not suffer from eye disease in that year, and whoever takes a bath on the day of ‘Aashooraa’ will not get sick in that year’ and so on. No reliable scholars have narrated anything like this, neither from the Prophet nor from his Companions nor from the Taabi’een neither in any authentic report or in a weak report neither in the books of Saheeh, nor in as-Sunan, nor in the Musnads. None of the Imaams encouraged such things, neither the four Imaams, nor any others.

His reply was: “Nothing to that effect has been reported in any sound Hadeeth from the Prophet or his Companions.
